About Marc Peter
Coach. Musician. Writer. Worship Director.
Welcome.
Whether you’ve found your way here because you’re exploring coaching, listening to my music, reading something I’ve written, or simply curious about my work, I’m glad you’re here.
People sometimes ask whether I’m a coach who makes music, a musician who coaches, or someone who enjoys writing.
The answer is “yes.”
I don’t see those as separate parts of my life. They’re different expressions of the same vocation.
Whether I’m coaching a client, writing a song, leading worship, or reflecting through an essay, I’m drawn to many of the same questions:
- How do we live with integrity?
- How do we discern what matters most?
- What does it mean to live faithfully in the midst of ordinary life?
- How do we navigate seasons of change with wisdom rather than hurry?
Those questions continue to shape my own life, and they’ve become the thread that ties together much of what I do.
Why I coach
For much of my life, I’ve been drawn to conversations that help people make sense of their lives.
Whether in ministry, leadership, coaching, or everyday relationships, I’ve found that meaningful change rarely comes from someone providing the “right” answer. More often, it emerges through careful listening, thoughtful questions, honest reflection, and the courage to take a next step.
When I first experienced professional coaching, I recognized something different.
I saw the power of having someone fully present—listening carefully, asking thoughtful questions, and creating space for clarity to emerge without judgment or pressure. It wasn’t about being told what to do. It was about discovering what was already becoming clear through the conversation.
That experience changed the way I understood helping others.
Today, coaching has become one of the primary ways I live out that calling.
A little about me
Today I continue to serve in several different, yet surprisingly complementary, roles.
By day, I work as a Senior Manager of Data Quality Analysis, helping teams improve the quality and reliability of complex data systems. I also serve as a worship director in my local church, where I’ve had the privilege of leading music and serving in ministry for many years.
Alongside those roles, I coach, write, and make music.
At first glance, those pursuits may seem unrelated. Over time, however, I’ve come to see them as different expressions of the same vocation.
Whether I’m coaching a client, leading worship, analyzing data, writing an essay, or composing a song, I’m drawn to paying careful attention—listening well, asking thoughtful questions, noticing patterns, and helping bring clarity where things have become difficult to see.
My approach
My coaching is slow, attentive, and formation-oriented.
Many people aren’t looking for more information—they’re trying to make sense of competing values, responsibilities, fears, expectations, or desires.
Rather than rushing toward solutions, I strive to create a space where clients can think deeply, notice what has been shaping them, and make intentional choices that align with their values and calling.
I don’t believe lasting growth usually comes through quick fixes.
More often, it grows through paying careful attention, asking honest questions, and taking faithful next steps.
Faith
My Christian faith shapes who I am and how I understand vocation, relationships, leadership, and the good life.
It also shapes the posture I bring to coaching: humility, curiosity, hope, and respect for each person’s dignity and agency.
Although faith is central to my own life, I welcome clients from many different backgrounds and worldviews. Coaching is distinct from pastoral care, spiritual direction, and counseling, and I honor each client’s freedom to determine what role, if any, faith will play in our conversations.
Credentials
I am an ICF Associate Certified Coach (ACC) and have completed ICF-accredited Level 2 (Advanced Certified Transformational Coach) training through the Global Center for Coaching in partnership with Western Seminary.
I practice according to the ICF Core Competencies and Code of Ethics and remain committed to ongoing learning and professional development as a coach.
Beyond coaching
Outside of coaching, you’ll usually find me making music, roasting and enjoying good coffee, reading thoughtful books on faith, vocation, leadership, and living well (alongside a good novel), appreciating a well-built spreadsheet, or spending time in the sunshine.
These aren’t simply hobbies. They continue to shape how I see the world and remind me that growth isn’t only found in work, but also in beauty, curiosity, friendship, worship, and rest.
- Drinks of choice: Black coffee, spicy masala chai, and sparkling water.
