Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Who is coaching for?
Coaching is for anyone looking to enhance their life by setting and achieving meaningful goals. It’s particularly beneficial for individuals who:
- Feel stuck: those who are unsure about their direction in life, career, or relationships, and seek clarity on their next steps.
- Desire personal growth: people who want to improve self-confidence, resilience, or overall well-being.
- Face transitions: those navigating significant life changes, such as a career shift, relocation, new relationships, or major lifestyle adjustments.
- Need accountability: individuals who benefit from having a structured, supportive approach to stay on track with their goals.
- Want to align goals with values: those who aim to live in alignment with their personal or spiritual beliefs.
- Aspire to higher performance: professionals or leaders who seek to enhance their skills, improve productivity, or find balance.
In short, coaching is for anyone ready to take intentional steps toward a more aligned, purpose-driven life.
What is coaching?
The International Coaching Federation (ICF) defines coaching as partnering in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires a person to maximize their personal and professional potential.
Coaching isn’t about telling people what to do—it’s about helping them gain clarity and take responsibility for their own decisions. A coach supports clients in evaluating their current path against their goals, values, and hopes, helping them notice new options and move beyond limiting assumptions.
Through a partnership built on trust, coaching clarifies and motivates clients to pursue meaningful goals energized by what matters most to them.
What is Christian life coaching?
Christian coaching integrates the reflective framework of coaching with attentiveness to faith, conscience, and spiritual commitments.
I am a Christian, and my worldview is shaped by biblical faith and the Good News of Jesus Christ. You do not need to share my beliefs for us to work together, but faith may naturally inform how we explore meaning, identity, and calling if you desire that.
Coaching does not replace pastoral care, therapy, or discipleship, and it does not involve spiritual direction unless explicitly agreed upon. Your responsibility for growth and decision-making remains yours.
How can you help me?
I’ll help you:
- Gain clarity: identify your values, strengths, and priorities.
- Explore options: consider aligned ways forward.
- Develop strategy: shape realistic, intentional next steps.
- Stay accountable: remain focused between sessions.
When is the best time to seek coaching?
Coaching can be helpful during seasons of transition, uncertainty, or discernment—such as career changes, relational shifts, or a desire for personal or spiritual growth.
If you’re considering beginning coaching within the next 4–6 weeks, a Discovery Call is the appropriate first step.
What is a typical coaching session like?
Coaching sessions are typically scheduled weekly or biweekly and last 50 minutes. Sessions are held by phone to encourage focused reflection; Zoom is available upon request.
Coaching begins with a focused four-session engagement designed to build clarity and momentum around one meaningful area of growth. At the end of the fourth session, we discern next steps together.
During sessions, I listen carefully, ask thoughtful questions, and help you reflect on your situation and chosen next steps. Between sessions, you may choose to work on agreed-upon actions or reflection.
How is coaching different from therapy, consulting, or discipleship?
Coaching assumes you are capable, resourceful, and responsible for your own growth. Rather than diagnosing, prescribing solutions, or directing spiritual formation, coaching creates space for reflection, discernment, and intentional action.
- Therapy often focuses on healing past wounds or mental health concerns.
- Consulting involves expert recommendations.
- Mentoring draws on experience to guide development.
- Discipleship is formative and directive in spiritual growth.
- Coaching is future-focused and client-led.
I do not diagnose, prescribe, or direct your decisions. I partner with you in a reflective process that respects your agency and conscience.
What are the benefits of coaching?
Coaching provides structured space for growth and reflection, helping you:
- Gain clarity about direction and priorities.
- Make decisions aligned with your values.
- Strengthen confidence and follow-through.
- Experience accountability and encouragement.
What are the risks of coaching?
Coaching involves reflection and change, which can feel uncomfortable at times. Clients remain fully responsible for their own decisions and actions.
I am not a therapist and do not provide therapy or mental health treatment. If concerns arise outside the scope of coaching, I will recommend appropriate professional support.
I adhere to the ICF Code of Ethics and Core Competencies.
How do I know if coaching is right for me?
Coaching may be a good fit if you’re looking for space to think clearly, explore options, and take responsibility for meaningful change.
If you’re considering beginning coaching within the next 4–6 weeks, start with a Discovery Call. During that conversation, we’ll discern whether a focused four-session engagement feels appropriate.
Do you guarantee results?
I cannot guarantee specific outcomes. I offer a thoughtful, ethical coaching process. Outcomes depend on your goals, circumstances, and commitment.
What are your confidentiality and ethical practices?
I maintain strict confidentiality. Confidentiality would only be broken if legally required due to a reasonable belief of harm to yourself or others.
Do I need to sign a contract?
Yes. A Coaching Agreement outlines expectations, boundaries, confidentiality, and billing terms. The agreement must be reviewed and submitted before booking your four-session engagement.
How many sessions do I need?
Coaching begins with a four-session engagement. This structure provides enough space to build clarity and traction without becoming open-ended. At the end of the engagement, we discern together whether a new four-session arc would be helpful.
How much does life coaching cost?
Individual coaching begins with a four-session engagement. Current pricing and details are available on the Coaching Packages page.
How long should I commit to coaching?
Coaching begins with a four-session engagement. Some clients complete their work within that arc, while others choose to continue with a new four-session focus depending on their goals and season.
Where will the coaching sessions take place?
Sessions are conducted by phone. Zoom is available if strongly preferred.
